Fly Fishing Traditions – Instruction, Classes and Clinics

I’ve always been a teacher, whether it’s passing on carpentry skills or post-up basketball moves, I’m now going to start teaching Fly Fishing Skills, casting, rigging, what flies do choose, bugs, even how to row a drift boat. There isn’t anything that helps you become a better fly fisher than practicing the skills you need to take to the water. I want and plan to help.

If you don’t get the help you’ve expected in any of these classes there will be no charge and the lesson is free. You can decide if it’s worth it. Again, that’s my personal guarantee.

All equipment will be provided if requested.

Drift Boat 101

Drift Boat 101

Rowing a drift boat, raft with a rowing frame or a pontoon boat on a river is not something to be taken lightly. The safety of yourself and other passengers lies solely with the skill of the rower. Not to mention, their fishing effectiveness too! Every guide out there will say the same thing, a good rower is more important to success than a good caster. With that being said, Fly Fishing Traditions is proud to offer Drift Boat Rowing Lessons.

With our location so close to the Lower Yuba River, Feather River, American and Lower Sacramento rivers , we are proud to offer an “On the Water” drift boat school.

It is a course that covers river safety, basic rowing, advanced rowing, fishing strategies, entry/exit, defensive rowing, anchoring, and more. This class is designed for both boat owners and those curious about rowing rivers.
