Products- Redington CPX Switch Rod

I fished the Lower Yuba River yesterday with Blake Larsen and Frank Rinella. Frank had brought along a Redington CPX 10 foot six inch, 6 weight switch rod that the local Sage and Redington representative, Jamie Lyle, had lent him to give a test drive. Frank and I both regularly use a Sage 11’6, Z-axis, 6 weight switch rods.
We were fishing out of a drift boat and were using indicator and tight line nymphing methods. Both Frank and I fished with the Redington rod and felt it had a nice action and worked great for presenting and mending line while either side drifting or wet wading. I also did some spey casting with the rod and it had plenty of backbone to pound out some nice casts. We were fishing with indicator, shot and multiple flies and I was able to present the flies easily where I wanted them. I’m sure it would cast even better when rigged with the right line and a streamer pattern. Being a foot shorter than the Sage switch rod I own it was also less tiresome to cast single handed. If you are in the market for a switch rod, you should check this rod out.
